Dr. Oleksiy Osiyevskyy
Director - GBFI, Associate Professor at University of Calgary
Dr. Oleksiy Osiyevskyy is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. In his scholarship, Oleksiy concentrates on the problem of achieving and sustaining firm growth through successfully engaging in entrepreneurial strategies. Particular areas of expertise include analyzing and designing innovative business models, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate innovation practices, and evidence-based strategies for developing high-growth new ventures.
Dr. Osiyevskyy’s scholarly achievements were recognized with the prestigious Canadian Izaak Killam Memorial Scholarship (during his Ph.D. studies), and numerous awards from the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Moreover, his research was included in the list of ‘research projects taking place at Canadian universities that teach important lessons for today's business leaders' by the Canadian Business Magazine. Before joining Haskayne School of Business, he was an Assistant Professor in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Group of the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, Northeastern University (Boston), from 2014 till 2017.

Roger is the managing lawyer of Song & Howard Law Office based in Calgary, Alberta. He focuses
his practice to help Chinese entrepreneurs and companies to develop and operate projects and
businesses in the province of Alberta and provide legal services to local Chinese community as
well as general public in the areas of corporate, wills and estates, and real estate law. He has
more than 20 years’ experiences of legal teaching and research, corporate in-house and private
practice legal counsel in mainland China, US, Hong Kong, and Canada. He was admitted to
practice law in the province of Alberta since 2014. He was also a lawyer admitted to practice in
the state of New York from 1996 to 2019. Roger obtained his Bachelor of Law and Master of Law
degrees from Beijing University, his LL.M degree from New York University and his Juris Doctor

Jeff Mo is a portfolio manager at Mawer Investment Management Ltd., which he joined in 2008. He is the manager of the Mawer New Canada Fund and Mawer’s Canadian small cap mandates. In December of 2014, Mr. Mo won the prestigious Domestic Equity Fund Manager of the Year award at the 20th annual Morningstar Awards. The Mawer New Canada Fund has also been recognized by the Morningstar Awards as best Canadian Small/Mid Cap Equity Fund on numerous occasions over the past decade. Mr. Mo received his Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from the Richard Ivey School of Business and also attended the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, in Beijing, China. David Yager: Author & Writer – Energy Policy Analyst – Oil Service Executive Advisory
David Yager is semi-retired oil service executive and entrepreneur. Since 1970 he has worked in multiple oil service sector segments and from 1987 to 2012 was a founder, senior officer and director of three successful publicly traded oil service companies.
Through Yager Management Ltd., he currently consults as an executive finance and management advisor to oil service companies as well as presenting upstream oil and gas industry overviews and trends to companies, boards, industry associations, and other organizations. He was National Leader Oil Services for MNP LLP from 2012 to 2016. He is current acting CEO of a wellbore methane mitigation technology company.
David Yager has been active in business journalism and energy policy analysis since 1979. He has authored numerous energy policy position papers for the oil service trade association. He is a regular commentator about the industry in newspapers, magazines, TV, and radio.
David Yager’s first book - “From Miracle to Menace – Alberta, A Carbon Story” – was released in April of 2019. The book analyzes how climate change, carbon politics, and global energy demand have impacted the province and the future of Alberta’s – and Canada’s – most important resource industry.
