How to value your business and make initial market analysis
Canada China Commercial Association (CCCA) proudly presents The 2017 Western Canada Innovation and Entrepreneurship Roadshow (“The Roadshow”), a series of events to walk the venture entrepreneurs through all training sessions. We will held our Grand Finale in November 2017 and the winner will get $1,688 prize as a reward.
Please join us on Tuesday September 12, 2017 for a night with experienced entrepreneurs, venture capital investors, and senior consultants. The event covers topics, such as how to value your business, how to make initial market analysis and attract investor, what are the essentials for starting an innovative business, and how to apply various grants and funding, etc.
Time: Tuesday, September 12, 2017 6pm-9pm. Registration starts at 5:30pm.
Location: Science Theatre 143, University of Calgary, Calgary AB
- Lot 21 and 25 are public parking lots nearby, costs $7- $8 per entry after 3:30pm.
Part 1: Keynote Speakers:
1. Customer Discovery: Don’t fall in love with your idea until your customers do By David Bocking, Technology Development Advisor, Alberta Innovates
David Bocking has over 30 years’ experience in the technology, energy and health sectors. He has held executive roles in sales, product management and marketing across many sectors. He is an accomplished growth leader and consultant skilled at creating enterprise value from new market entry, product development, technology adoption and business model innovation. He is an exceptional communicator, who quickly develops empathy for customer problems, creates solutions, and distills complex scenarios into a strategic vision coupled with a corresponding business model to create, deliver and capture value. In his current role at Alberta Innovates, he has provided coaching to hundreds of startups and delivers workshops on Lean Startup Thinking, Business Models and Customer Development.
2. How to value your business and attract investors wisely By Jeremy Gilman, Principal, McRock Capital
Jeremy Gilman is the Principal of McRock Capital, a venture capital firm based in Toronto and Calgary. Jeremy is focused on the origination, structuring, and execution of new investment opportunities in the Industrial IT sector. His responsibilities also include working closely with McRock’s portfolio companies on corporate strategy, risk management, business plan execution, and financial planning. Jeremy is also a Director of CFA Society Calgary.

As An award winning entrepreneur coach, Steven is responsible for ensuring early stage entrepreneurs receive timely coaching and mentoring as well as effective programs to support both their professional and business development.
Eileen Ashmore, President & Owner, Strategic Timelines Inc.
Eileen Ashmore, MBA, CMC is a technology funding specialist who works with technology driven businesses to assist them prepare provincial and federal funding submissions along with preparing the supporting business tools - business and marketing strategies/plans, financial projections, market assessment and competitor analysis for these submissions. Eileen has 30+ years management consulting experience and has worked with hundreds of B2B companies.
Bruce Gilkes, Owner, Technology Pathfinders
Bruce Gilkes is a senior executive with Technology Pathfinders, a company that mentors small and medium enterprises. Before that, he has founded a computer training and simulation company, C4i Consultants Inc. and grown it into a multinational organization. He has several patents to his name and was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration and the NATO Special Service Medal. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gilkes served full time and part time in the Canadian Army for 29 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
As with our previous event, we also invite professionals and successful entrepreneurs as our special guests. Participants of the events will also have opportunities to mingle with these experts.
